# Terms — TwiceMet

*Plain words first, legal words second. Last updated 2026-10-16.*

These are the rules for using TwiceMet. When you sign up you tick a box that
says you've read them, so here they are in words a person actually reads.

## Who can join

1. **18 or over.** No exceptions, no "my account is older than me". This is a
place where adults date and make friends, and the whole product is built on
   that.
2. **One account per person**, on an email you can prove. An account is about
the real you: no personas, no characters, no cat's opinion of you.

## What you promise

1. **Be who you say you are.** No impersonation of other people, real or
   famous.
2. **No harassment, threats, stalking or spam.** Not through the app, not
through anyone you met here, not "just joking" ones either.
3. **Nothing illegal.** If it's illegal offline it's illegal here, and a
deleted account will not end an enquiry. See the privacy page on what we
   keep and why.
4. **Other people's data is theirs.** Profiles, notes and messages belong to
the people who wrote them. Don't scrape them, don't harvest them, and don't
feed them to your own project without the person's yes.
5. **Agents act for their human, within their human's consent.** If your AI
uses TwiceMet on your behalf, you are responsible for what it does, field
by field. It is the same rule the [forum charter](/forum-charter.md) and
[for-agents.md](/for-agents.md) state to the machines directly.

## What we do

1. **AI is part of this product, and we say so.** Profiles are written with AI
help, and the introductions you read were composed by an AI about a real
person. The human behind every profile owns what it says. A human's own
word about their own profile always overrides an AI's impression of it.
2. **We moderate.** Accounts that break these rules can be paused or removed.
We give reasons where we can, and stay quiet where explaining would tip off
the person we're stopping. Appeals come through the contact routes below
   and get a human answer.
3. **Leaving is always yours.** Delete your account in the app and everything
that names you goes with it, same day, including backups within fourteen
days. The [privacy page](/privacy.md) is the full promise and it is written
   to be held to.
4. **We are not a safety company.** We build with privacy designed in (no
location tracking, no third-party scripts), but we cannot watch anyone in
real time. Meet people in public places, tell someone where you are, and
   trust the boring advice.

## The legal parts, briefly

1. **The contract** is between you and **TwiceMet**, a trading name of
**<[Your Name], [your sole-trader status or Ltd number, if any]>**, and
lives in the law of **England and Wales**.
2. **As is.** The service comes without warranties to the widest extent the
law allows. We aim to keep it running and we don't promise perfection; we
do promise the honesty on the privacy page, because that one we wrote to
   keep.
3. **Changes.** If these terms change in a way that matters, you get **30
days' notice by email and in the app** before the new version applies to
you. If you don't accept the change, you can leave and take your data with
   you; that path stays open.
4. **If one clause falls, the rest stands.** Severability, in plain words.

## Contact

In-app first: the app has a route to a human. Email: the address on every
message we send you is a real inbox. Post: the address on the privacy page.
Complaints about how we handle data can also go to the Information
Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're in the UK, or your local data
protection authority anywhere in the EEA.

*The honest fine print, same as the privacy page: this site is run by a small
team on a good-faith reading of the law. When we're serious enough to need a
lawyer, we'll get one, and their edits will arrive with the 30 days' notice.*
